Happy Thanksgiving 2008

(Thanksgiving 2007)

"Thanksgiving, after all, is a word of action." ~W.J. Cameron

I love this because it reminds me to not only remember all that I have to be thankful for everyday but to be in a constant state of showing that thanks.

Wishing you and your loved ones a very happy day as you consider all the ways you've been blessed.

Happy Thanksgiving with love~

A little wisdom from Ben Franklin

"If you would not be forgotten as soon as you are dead and rotten, either write something worth reading or do things worth the writing." Benjamin Franklin

During my trip to Philadelphia in October I heard this quote and it really struck me and STUCK with me. I realized I squander time doing things that aren't always very productive or meaningful. I tend to lose focus of things I should be doing by doing things that really don't amount to much and at the end of the day I feel frustrated and disappointed because I haven't bettered myself or anyone else along the way.

Some of you may have noticed I've been a bit scarce in the Land of Blog. I have been trying to cut back so that I can focus my time and energy on other things right now. A few weeks ago I saw Lindy looking for me and the first place she went to look for me was in the office (we don't have a laptop) and that was pretty telling.

I'm not sure what I write is worth the reading and I doubt that anything I do will ever be worth the writing as good old Ben states, but I do want to create a home where Lindy has memories of us doing things together and where she sees me being a servant to others and not a slave to technology.

I do miss checking in on my friends and family as frequently as I have in the past and want you to know I love you and think of you often but during this very busy season I need to work on balancing things better in my life.

Many blessings~

Thankful Thursday

"At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us." -Albert Schweitzer

Today I am thankful for the many people who light my flame when it is no longer burning or is close to going out. I think many people in this world have their "go to" people and a very defined, tight circle of people from whom they gather strength and in turn give it back. For me, there isn't one set person or group in my life reigniting my light in every circumstance. I have found that sometimes the rekindling comes from the most unexpected person/people and it happens in the most unexpected way.

I by no means am bragging to say I have more people in my life than others. I am certain that is not the case. What I am trying to say is that as I've been thinking about the people I'm thankful for and those who bring me encouragement, I've been really surprised by some of the names that come to mind. It has definitely reminded me that you just never know the positive impact you are having on someone's life at just the right time and whose flame you may be rekindling. So pass on the love and encouragement and keep the fire going!

What are you thankful for today?
