A few weeks ago I was at H*meG*ods--one of my favorite hangouts. As I was combing the clearance section, I snatched up what I considered to be two WONDERFUL deals--The Martha Stewart Living Cookbook: The Original Classics (2007 edition) and The Martha Stewart Cookbook: Collected Recipes for Every Day (1995 edition). I got each hardcopy book for about 1/5 of the original cover price.
After I got home, I was flipping through some of the pages and realized I was being a bit--okay, REALLY--delusional. I have several cookbooks, 100s of ripped out recipes from magazines and newspapers waiting for their turn to become a tried and true, and the entire worldwide web at my fingertips! As much as I'd like to consider myself a "Martha" (minus the gig in prison), let's call a spade a spade. I'm truly more of a simple girl and really am more likely to cook from recipes with less than five ingredients--one of them being cream of something soup. I saw the movie Julie & Julia and LOVED it (see it immediately, if you haven't already) but there is NO way I'm going to undertake something like Julie Powell did with Mastering the Art of French Cooking!
Delusional or not, I still get a rush from a good find, as well as from being able to treat someone.
Sooooo, IF you would like the chance to add one of these books to your collection, please let me know which one you're most interested in by March 12th. To be fair, I'll draw a name for each book and happily send the winner his/her book of choice.
Bon appetit~

Funniest thing I've ever heard about Martha was (and no, I don't know if it is true) was that she was "cooking" with someone else and the recipe called for Cream of Chicken soup...she had NEVER HEARD OF IT~! Yikes! I knew at that moment, that I'd never be a MS either...haha
That's a staple around here!
Oh...now I want NO part of the give-away (although it is classic thoughtful Lisa!)...but I wanted to add that my niece gave me a MS baking cookbook for Christmas a few years back. It is beautiful...but alas...NOT ONE of the recipes I have tried (and really only two because they are complicated and time consuming!) have come out tasting nearly as good as all the work required...smoke and mirrors I think!!! :-)
Your sweet Lisa! I'm more of a Martha "reader"!! I love the photography in those books of hers but the recipes do get a bit high maintenance. Although I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE her Everyday Food magazine and show. Healthy and realistic ;-) Both those books are fun reads I'm sure!
Oh my gosh....... you are so funny!!! I have lots of cookbooks in my kitchen, but none of them are Martha Stewart. I can't even say that I have even opened one of her books in the bookstore.....is it that bad??
LOVE H@ME GOODS.....and TJ's:)
Happy Weekend!
xo,
Lisa
Do either have lots of photos? Love Martha, but I really love her books with photos. :) sm
I agree with Kate...this is classically thoughtful LIsa.
You know I am a total Martha!!!! You blog title drew me right in. Love to cook, love to clean, love to decorate. I just wish I were creative and crafty like her...me.... not so much.
Ironically, I don't have any of her cookbooks.
Have a great week.
Kim
I am cracking up! Everything I cook has a cream of something in it too! Thank goodness, my husband does all of the cooking around here! He would love one of your Martha cookbooks!
